I walk in the snow
in the snow I walk slow
The city sleeps under a sheet of white
like an empty house where all
the furniture is covered by white sheets
I walk down steep streets
where a fox sleeps
I step on other people's steps
I walk in the snow
in the snow I walk slow
I slip and almost fall
congealed tracks go up the walls
frozen tear drops like crystal balls
hanging off the tip of leafless
branches, lifeless
fingerly pointing the way
The right way?
I could not say.
I walk in the snow
in the snow I walk slow
I look down, fluffy sidewalk
dressed in glittery sparkling white
shining the moonlight
earthly stars brightening the night from below
a snowman in sunglasses
watching as i go.
I walk in the snow
in the snow I walk slow
dusty trucks de-iced the streets with salt
waiting for the great snowfall
silent snowstorm sugar-icing flower beds
frosty kids in sledges sliding fast
In a crystal palace, the ice queen misbehaves
still they say she is a special snowflake
out in the lake, ducks skating on ice bridges
Meanwhile...
Calfield wanted to know
Where do the fish go?
i wanna play in the snow
ReplyDeletei wanna lay in the snow
but now the snow
had to go
and wait
till
the next
summer
